2017. The year of firsts, lasts, and a heck of a lot of changes. But why look back when we can look ahead? Besides, a wise man (C.S. Lewis) once said that there are far greater things ahead than those we leave behind.
Welcome 2018, we’ve been expecting you.
I’m really excited for this new year for many reasons – far too many to count. But one of the most significant things I’m anticipating in this new year is learning from the past 12 months, which were chock full of crazy-ness. For me, 2017 was a year of always saying ‘yes’ and literally doing the absolute most.
Honestly, despite the difficulty of maintaining a constant go-getter attitude and never ending to-do list, I have no regrets (even though my immune system would beg to differ). This year, however, I’m hoping to learn more by doing less, if that makes sense. I want to continue to grow my business, re-learn how to relax, and keep the blog posts coming – all while taking better care of myself in the process!
So, without further ado, here’s the New Year’s Eve makeup I promised!
I’ll just go ahead and say that despite its subtlety, it’s hard to do this look justice! I don’t know about you, but my New Year’s Eve wasn’t super high key. I spent the evening in with close friends so I opted for a more low key look with just the right amount of shimmer.
For the base, I started with Neutrogena ® Healthy Skin Liquid foundation in Shade 40 Nude and I contoured with Anastasia Beverly Hills contour crème kit. I used Sephora liquid concealer in shade Ivory under my eyes to lift and brighten my face.
For the blush, I used a touch of Tarte Amazonian clay 12-hour blush in shade ‘paaarty.’ I used Sonia Kashuk Enhance Eye Shadow in shade Starlight 18 to highlight my cheeks.
For my eyes, I used Sephora Colorful Eyeshadow in shade All that Glitters No 109 on the lid and a bronzy shade from my 35R Morphe palette at the crease and outer corner. My eyeliner is Sephora liquid liner in Noir 1- Black. I layered Maybelline Great Lash mascara and Urban Decay Perversion on my natural lashes.
On my lips, I used a touch of Bite Beauty Lush Lip Tint in shade Watermelon, which is the perfect complement to a more dramatic eye look.
As always, I used my trusty Real Techniques Flawless Base Set and Beauty Blender to smooth it all out.
I love this look for its subtle glam and fun pop of color and shimmer. It’s a fresh, dewy look perfect to ring in 2018!
